Selection Of Images
Basically what I have done is that I have taken a group of images for my front cover and looked at them and asked others look take a look too. Fundamentally people say the shade of blue is too much therefore I may have to take a variety of diferent shots colour wise and picture wise as in Close Ups and Medium Shots.

Development Of My Contents Page
Basically with a maagzine conents page there must some bond with the title/front cover page, whether colours or texts - colours preferrably though as because it makes the magazine seem less confusing and more direct into one thing.
With my contents page what i have tried to do is use some images of those that are my main headings in a polariod effect;i also tried to stay with the blue elements but limited it, as because people told me that the front cover seemed too blue - and therefore the text was hard too see.

Market Research For Magazine Name
Ok because my magazine is a dance magazine, I wanted to know what name would seem more suitable and will respond well to the genre of the magazine. therefore e to make my magazine more for my audience i held a questionnaire for differents names - So i am able to determine the names thats more ideal. Essentially the name i chose for my magazine was Dance Mania however people i asked didnt see it this way.
Looking at the results i could see that 'The Beat' was what people prefferred i also asked people why - one person then stated ' It seems original, eye catchin and realistic' another person then said "the magazine name 'the beat' sounds more comercial and consumers fundamentally know what they are getting - he then added having a name like Remix is like a Cliché some magazines have names like that".
With what these people said i was able to base my judgment on my magazine name and called it 'The Beat'
| List Of Magazine Names | |
| Dance Mania | 2 |
| Dance Salvation | 1 |
| The Beat | 7 |
| Remix | 4 |

semiotics!
What is semiotics firstly?; Semotics is the study on meaning and signs.
There Are factors signs and meaning and these are;
Symbolic - These have a meaning that must be cultrally learned to what they represent.
Indexical -which tend to have a connection to what they represent and are suggestive rather than directly resembling what they represented as.
There are two theorist that actually studied this topic
saussure (1954) and barthes (1972)
Roland Barthes was a french literary theorist, philosopher, critic, and semiotician.
"He found semiotics, the study of signs, useful in these interrogations. Barthes explained that these bourgeois cultural myths were "second-order signs," or "connotations." A picture of a full, dark bottle is a signifier that relates to a specific signified: a fermented, alcoholic beverage. However, the bourgeoisie relate it to a new signified: the idea of healthy, robust, relaxing experience. Motivations for such manipulations vary, from a desire to sell products to a simple desire to maintain the status quo. These insights brought Barthes in line with similar Marxist theory"

We need to flatplan as because it basically a plan of what your finished product will look like - a flatplan is a plan therefore it helps you produce you work quicker as because you have arranged things and when actaully putting your work together you will able to refer back to it, it fundamentally it increase the efficiency of delivering your product. these are my two flatplans; the front cover and contents page.
My Typical Reader
Here we have Elias Farah a teenager at the age of 17, he studies economics, dance and drama in college and has a part time job in tesco's - he currently lives with his parents in a 3 bedroom flat. Elias is into RnB and Funky, and enjoys a bit of dubstep, however his main focus is into dance pop & techno like the wanted & Basshunter. Elias loves listening to kiss fm because they tend to remix sounds and tracks and transform it into an active dance song, so this is his main radio station. ideally Elias is a typical reader of this magazine as because everything that hes is into like music festivals and dance info would all be in this magazine, looking at other magazines like mix mag i have been able to segament there target audience and understand what they are like - as because my magazine and mix mag will cover slightly the same genre. Fundamentally Elias is my typical reader as because he loves to travel to clubs, bars, house parties & raves. he the loves to read about the latest events - doing my research will help me gather the information i need to gain the correct and reponsive audience.

Denonation & Connotation!
Denonations tends to be more literal than Connation.
(Denotation refers to the literal meaning of a word, the "dictionary definition."¨ For example, if you look up the word snake in a dictionary, you will discover that one of its denotative meanings is "any of numerous scaly, legless, sometimes venomous reptiles¡Khaving a long, tapering, cylindrical body and found in most tropical and temperate regions."
Connotation, on the other hand, refers to the associations that are connected to a certain word or the emotional suggestions related to that word. The connotative meanings of a word exist together with the denotative meanings. The connotations for the word snake could include evil or danger.)http://www.eng.fju.edu.tw/English_Literature/terms/denotation.htm
Looking At this magazine we can clearly see a man wearing shades and a black shirt, with purple line, fundamentally the colours used are quite bright and seem rather eye catching.we can say that I Have Showed the denonation of this magazine

Evaluation Of The Preliminary Task
Looking at my Front Cover, I acknowledged that there are many factors that i could have improved, one in which was the colour;in reference to the colour the mistake i made was the shading of colour, i used quite dark colour and the grunge effect like the colour of concrete. in addition the mistake i made was the fact that i missed the actual concept of creating a school magazine. as school magazines tend to be much more vivid. And eye catching - however looking my poster i could clearly see that there no sense of vividness.
in terms of the layout i could of organised the film stripped images in a way that the potential buyer can be able to view all images and made them in high quality resolution.the contents page could have been much more detailed and organised like a real contents page for any magazine - in order to maxmise my marks i could have also added some feautes and on the front cover like more eye catching content, in order to look more realistic, to again maximise my marks
